FACTS:
-Kentucky has a natural pH of 7.4
-A fish’s stomach is about as big as its eyeball, so smaller fish only need one pellet
or one small flake once a week, no more than twice a week.
-Catfish will eat anything that fits into their mouth.
-Heat and humidity cause algae to flourish. Try a UV filter or New Green Clean to
combat the problem.
-Items found in the ocean, such as seashells, shouldn’t be placed into freshwater
aquariums because they will raise your pH and alkalinity.
-Live rock provides a natural food source for your saltwater fish and is a good bacteria
bed to keep your aquarium stabilized.
-Straight actinic light is so intense that it can actually burn the scales off your
fish. Buy bulbs that have an actinic spectrum but are filtered through a broad spectrum.
-The rule of thumb for keeping freshwater fish is to have 1-inch of fish per gallon.
(Example: If you have a 10-gallon aquarium, you should only have up to 9-10 fish
that are 1-inch big.)
